An Odissi Dance Repertoire by Nrityalaya

An Odissi Dance Repertoire by Nrityalaya

Senior dancers of Nrityalaya will perform a repertoire with explanation in the Odissi style of Indian Classical dance. Odissi is an elegant, subtle style of classical dance, which focuses not only on intricate technical movements, but also on fluid gestures, delicate torso movements and self-expression or Ahbinaya. One of seven forms of classical dance in India, Odissi comes from Orissa in Eastern India and its roots date back 2000 years. The Odissi musical tradition is a unique blend of Hindustani (North Indian) and Carnatic (South Indian) styles of Indian classical music.
